Mont Saint Michel In Second Life Set To Close At End Of September » Ciaran Laval

Sad to see this scenic location go in Second Life:

Mont Saint Michel in Second Life is a region that is so beautifully picturesque that even Linden Lab use it in their promotional materials. Unfortunately being beautifully picturesque is not enough…

A little bit of Junk in Second Life

Inara reviews the very scenic and photogenic location of Junk:

Inara Pey: Living in a Modem World

I’ve written a few times about some of the advantages shopping in-world can have, quite aside from the benefits of easy browsing, sharing time with friends, etc., simply because many content creators with land of their own put as much care and effort into providing a place people will want to visit as much for itself as for the shopping experience.

Tab Tatham is one such creator. Her region, called simply Junk, the name of her store, is wonderfully atmospheric in design and execution. So much so that not only does it provide an eye-catching place to visit as well as to spend time shopping, for me it is also mindful of another region design I always enjoyed and admired: Jordan Giant’s The Colder Water, which makes it doubly attractive.

Winds of the Sahara Cabaret Dance Show

Kat Feldragonne reviews the Sahara Cabaret Dance Show:

A Kat and A Mouse

Sunday night I found myself with a little bit of free time, so I headed over to Winds of the Sahara to see their weekly cabaret show.

WotSC 1The show opened with Jilley, Paul, and Wiz doing a techno number.

I liked the costumes for this act.

Ariel was up next with a hot little number to ‘Fever’ by Peggy Lee.

There was a fair bit of skin in the act, and I missed getting a pic before most of the costume was gone. :/

The next act seemed to go a bit haywire.

Devlin had a terrific tribal headhunter costume, but ended up dancing through a couple of walls and was offstage for a fair bit of the routine.

WotSC 3I wasn’t having any lag issues, but SL has been behaving oddly all week.

Things settled down for the next number, a trio of Lotta, Chrissy, and Ariel (I think).

I…

Great review of the new exhibit on LEA #10:

Million Happy Endings

meta_006Opening on Thursday morning, September 24th, ::Metamorfaces:: by Art Oluja is the Round 9 installation at LEA 10. Information and instructions for best experiences can be obtained at the welcome area.   meta_005meta_024Sounds and animated art are important dimensions to the installation. There are instructions in the welcome card for best sound and for joining the ::Metamorfaces:: group for updates and events. meta_019The CYlents pieces, based on the First Life technique of lenticular motion images and made in collaboration with a model, are an especially interesting process.     meta_011The region lighting has been changed and there’s more fog since I took the photo above.

“::About Metamorfaces::

“One morning, I woke up to troubled dreams, and realized, I was in a state of metamorphosis. Like a spider trapped under skin, paralysis slowly crawled across my face, suffocating the sensation in my lips, then taking away my ability to taste, swallow…

Pursue Impossible: as the entries continue

Inara reviews some of the new UWA Machinima and Art Contest entrants:

Mistero Hifeng: "Dream", Pursue Impossible Mistero Hifeng: “Dream”, Pursue Impossible

With the prize pool standing at over L$560,000, the list of entries in the University of Western Australia’s (UWA)  Pursue Impossible Art & Film Challenge continues to grow while the clock slowly counts away the days to the deadline for submissions at midnight SLT, on October 31st, 2015.

The Pursue Impossible theme is in recognition of the UWA adopting Pursue Impossible as their clarion call to students in the physical world to achieve their fullest possible potential by studying with the university.

Within the competition, entrants are invited to consider what their “impossible” might be. Perhaps it is the goal they have achieved or which they’ve seen achieved by their loved ones, friends or family; or perhaps it is a consideration of those things we deem to be impossible, but which we may still pursue and conquer as individuals or collectively. Or maybe it is…

“I am inclined to think—” said I.

“I should do so,” Sherlock Holmes remarked impatiently.

I believe that I am one of the most long-suffering of mortals; but I’ll admit that I was annoyed at the sardonic interruption. “Really, Holmes,” said I severely, “you are a little trying at times.”

He was too much absorbed with his own thoughts to give any immediate answer to my remonstrance. He leaned upon his hand, with his untasted breakfast before him, and he stared…

What The F*ck To Do In SL

Ironwood

Ironwood Hills is the the place to be if you’re looking for the perfect post-apocalyptic town. Grab your date and check out the drive-in, grab some snacks and if you’re feeling frisky get a room at the Shocking Motel. Just don’t think too much about what might have happened in that room before you got there.

ACC Alpha (Art and Content Creation)

Great review of the very scenic ACC Sim:

Million Happy Endings

ACC Alpha_016Very recently I enjoyed a wander around ACC Alpha and got my camera out to snap some photos. My reminder of this lovely place had been the pleasant surprise of seeing The Centaur’s Hall, by Haveit Neox, still located at Verdigris. Centaur's Hall_001I’ve long admired the Transylvanian Tower at The Golden Oriole at Verdigris. Soon I will have a good reason to put one to use. Checking out the one on site was my initial reason for the visit. With so many reminders of the transience of our virtual world lately it was comforting to see The Centaur’s Hall, which I blogged about here in February of this year, still available to visit. After snapping a picture, above, I looked in my landmarks for ACC Alpha and was on my way.ACC Alpha_002It looked different from the last time I’d been but much of it was familiar.ACC Alpha_007From the land description:…
