There have been a number of press reports on Sansar since the start of the year, some of which I’ve covered in these pages – such as in Road to VR (see here), Upload VR and Tom’s Hardware (see here). However, while I’ve read others, I’ve not made the time to write about them. so, in case you missed them, here’s a quick breakdown of notable coverage of the Lab, Sansar and Second Life.On January 19th, Réalité Virtuelle, the French on-line publication for virtual and augmented reality carried a piece entitled Sansar: la vraie réalité virtuelle débarque en 2017 (“Sansar: the real virtual reality arrives in 2017″).
Preview the first video of a creator creating in Sansar! Loz Hyde offers a first glimpse of Sansar. Very special thank you to Inara Pey for the heads up:
Its official! Project Sansar is officially Sansar! Inara has the scoop and more:
On Wednesday, August 31st, Linden Lab issued a press release indicating they have issued the first of the invitations to successful applicants to join the Sansar Creator Preview programme. This has been picked-up by various media and blogs – but what I’ve found particularly interesting (and others seem to have missed) is that the press release confirms the new platform is to simply be called “Sansar”.
Thanks to Strawberry Singh for the info! You can now apply to join Project Sansar and preview the new virtual world as a creator:
Apply for Project Sansar Creator PreviewProject Sansar makes it easier than ever before to create, share, and monetize your own social VR experiences. We’re seeking skilled 3D content creators to be among the first to use this powerful new platform in our Creator Preview….
The successor to Second Life, Sansar, now has it’s login page up and ready, but you have to wait…registration is just for people invited by Linden Labs:
The Project Sansar website has recently come online and shows the login page.
You can see the page yourself by clicking here, it is animated and several wireframe creations appear.
As those invited to the workshop at Linden Lab tomorrow will have to sign an NDA, these images may be all we’ll get to look at for a while.
I did try and send an email to the ‘forgot password’ address, but alas, it came back to me, no luck in trying to blag myself into the Project 😉
Make sure to check the collage of all the wireframe images made by Ernst Dommershuijzen at the bottom of this blog.
