On Sunday, October 8th, Moon Aerandir broke new ground in ACT with his innovative work, ‘The Pearl and the Olive Tree..’ This form of storytelling theatre involves a narrator sharing a story in character as the actors enact parts of it on the stage. Padstow Jack’s early life came to life as the dramatic events of his quest to win the woman he loved unfolded by means of Pipit Peacedream’s effective interpretation of Moon’s tale. The cast were: Padstow Jack as himself; Pipit Peacedream as Rosie, his childhood friend; Maat as his wife, and Bardy and Layne as ships crew. A rousing Shanty party followed this story theatre presentation with captivating tunes to keep the audience, many of whom were dressed as pirates, entertained and dancing many a merry jig. This event was a jointly sponsored by ACT and the Avilion Bards.

The Scottish poet, Marriott Edgar created monologues about Albert and the Lion for Stanley Holloway to perform. Inspired by these performances, Iddy Schmooz presents her own adaptation for the stage featuring the tale of the young lad, Albert, who was swallowed on a visit to the zoo by the lion, Wallace. Her script and imaginative sets capture all the hilarity of the situation as Albert disappears and finally returns. The script is punctuated by several peppy song and dance numbers from the 1920s. Iddy Schmooz is the director and Moon Aerandir is the Dramaturge. This play is one of two new offerings in ACT’s ‘Double Bill’ to be performed on August 28th at 1 p.m..Share this:

Inspired by Marion Zimmer Bradley’s book, Mists of Avalon, Maathator has created a new play based on the legend of King Arthur. Her narrative theatre piece will be presented at 1pm on Sunday, August 7th, on the ACT Stage. Maathator’s vision of Arthurian times focuses on some of the key events in Arthur’s reign, such as: his coronation, his desire to have a heir, and his eventual downfall at the hand of Mordred, his son. In addition, the audience meets some of the women who influenced his life, including: Guinevere and Morgana. Not only has Maathator developed the script, but she has sourced the costumes and created the sets to accompany her staged production. Choreographer Kalia and Dramaturge Bajoy have also contributed to the production. Congratulations to Maathator and everyone else associated with the production for bringing this epic tale to life on the stage!
