The sculpture installation ‘Cammino e Vivo Capeovolto’[Italian:Cammino and Capeovolto Live] uses various sculpting textures and object placement to covey images in a weather varied environment. Set against a mostly misty back ground with a slight amount of water over the ground, the artists added another well appreciated touch with music. There are a few grand pianos strategically placed with melodies of many moods.
One of the concepts you will find in more than one piece is a progression sequence. I enjoy pieces that stimulate my thought processes. This installation does exactly that for me. For example, with one of the pieces the artist has used 3D rendering, to display a figure carrying an umbrella. There are several in a row walking up and over a bridge. equidistant apart. There is much to be seen in viewing each part of this piece. The artists have fall away pieces at the bottom of each leg as if the art is rl clay and being broken apart from dryness. The figure possesses delicate hands and the head tilts forward. This head tilt, the forward direction, is seen throughout the exhibit as perhaps a connection to some shyness or listening. The meaning is what you take from interacting with this piece. It is interesting to note that the umbrellas, unlike the figure, are whole and in perfect condition. There is another progression where the figures are rooted, like trees, with wood texture traveling up the figure. The heart is injured here with an arrow. Consider the story it tells you when you visit.
Figures coupled in romantic embrace appear here and there, the embrace reminding the viewer of optimism or the value of companionship. Though these figures have subtle similarities to the other figures with break away clay affect.
I found the semi-submerged yellow head to be at stark contrast to the overall landscape of the display. Cracked, broken with stains or burn marks it draws the eye quickly. The detour from the mostly grey tones is surprising. Surprises in this environment work. I will say no more to reveal what I perceived from it.
You will see clocks and weather around the exhibit. These work well together with the other pieces. The result is an atmosphere that provides both a calming respite with rocking chairs as well as a visual treat to engage.
